He is the voice of God – but that doesn’t mean people trust him.
Morgan Freeman took up a public service ad urging people to “ trust ” him and get their COVID-19 vaccines – but Twitter couldn’t decide on Tuesday whether the actor should be considered infallible when it comes to recommending the shots.
‘I’m Morgan Freeman. I am not a doctor. But I trust science. And I’ve been told that for some reason people trust me, ”says the 83-year-old actor, who has portrayed God in movies like“ Bruce Almighty, ”in the clip.
So here I have to say that I trust science and I got the vaccine. If you trust me, you will get the vaccine.
“In mathematics it’s called distributive ownership,” Morgan said in the ad from the actor-driven nonprofit Creative Coalition.
“In humans it is called looking after each other. Get the vaccine. Help make our world a safe place where we can enjoy ourselves again. Please.”
The gray-haired star’s ad – just the latest actor to create such a PSA to boost the immunizations – sparked a Twitter debate about whether Hollywood types should promote the controversial shots.
Hey, let’s get medical advice from actors who lie for a living. What could go wrong? ” tweeted a poster
Another person wrote, “I don’t know Morgan Freeman personally, so how would I trust him? As for politicians, I don’t trust them. “
Somebody tweeted otherwiseMorgan Freeman is a great actor. Unfortunately, there is no actor in the world who can provide ten years of safety data on your experimental technology, so I don’t care who you pay to beg me to get one. I am not.”
But the ad also had a lot of supporters.
“I trust science … and Morgan Freeman gets the vaccine,” a person tweeted
Another tweeter wrote, “Good video. I trust Morgan Freeman. I will get my second dose next week!”
