Nearly 85,000 Utahns have been fully vaccinated after receiving both doses of vaccine.

The number of Utahns who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine now exceeds the total number of positive tests for the disease.
Nearly 363,000 doses have been injected into patients, according to the Utah Department of Health – that includes both the first and second dose. That’s about 11,400 more than the number of coronavirus cases reported in the state.
Thursday, 84,154 Utahns were fully vaccinated, after receiving both doses of the vaccine.
The coronavirus deaths in Utah were more than 1,700, with 14 more fatalities. (Three of those deaths occurred before Jan. 14 and were only recently confirmed as the result of COVID-19.)
In general, there has been a decrease in the spread of the virus from the community “through the state,” state epidemiologist Dr. Angela Dunn said Thursday. There are hot spots, like Summit County and Southwestern Utah, so there’s extra focus there on contact tracking and testing, she said.
“It looks really good for us in Utah,” she said, as long as people continue to follow coronavirus prevention guidelines, which is especially important as the COVID-19 variants spread.
