Carlos Rivera Santiago, Secretary of the DTRH, said in a written statement that the agency has sent multiple messages and notifications to affected people, but they have not completed the process at this time.

Beneficiaries of the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation Program (PEUC) have until December 26 to submit the required documentation, while those covered by the Loss of Wages Assistance Program (LWA) have until the 27th of this month.

Rivera Santiago stressed that the proceedings do not apply to claimants who receive payments from the Pandemic Unemployment Benefit Program, from PUA.

“In the specific case of claimants who are eligible to complete their benefit extension for a total of 13 additional weeks, there have been approximately 72,962 cases, with an additional 29,439 not certifying their weeks to receive a retroactive payment of $ 300 each. week, which would total $ 900. We urge them to handle claims on or before the deadlines, ”said the official.

“We have informed all of these claimants that they are eligible for these programs through our social media, via email and by texting them on various occasions. We follow the regulations and processes that the federal government has put in place to dispose of these fees, but plaintiffs must do their part, ”added Rivera Santiago.

In the case of an extension of benefits, the applicant can complete the process completely online: in the section “Claim next weeks” select “PEUC” and answer the questions about the benefit.

Meanwhile, in the case of “LWA” certifications, the applicant only needs to enter their social security number and PIN and “certify. Both processes can be found in the online services section of the portal del DTRH.

On the other hand, Rivera Santiago explained that the individuals whose unemployment cases raise controversial points, or are facing some problem in the system and have not been able to perform the LWA certification, because they have not claimed the weeks corresponding to the month August and the beginning. In September, they will be able to complete certification to qualify for the “Lost Wages Assistance” (LWA) program.
