More snow tonight – here’s what to expect

DETROIT – Wasn’t that nice snow on Sunday?

It was very light, fluffy snow that was easy to shovel or broom, and great for tobogganing and skiing (and snowshoeing – I have to mention that because my cousin Sandy went snowshoeing yesterday).

The next batch of snow to come in will be a heavier weight of snow, so it will be harder to shovel, thoughOn the other hand, it is better to make snowmen!

But first we have a dry day on Monday, with even limited breaks in the sun this morning. But we will be cloudy this afternoon. Highs in the low to mid 1930s (0 to 1 degree Celsius), with a north wind turning northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Today’s sunrise is at 7:53 AM and today’s sunset is at 5:39 PM

Snow develops, but probably not until midnight or after – the roads should still be fine tonight if you have to get out the door. Lows in the upper 20s (-2 degrees Celsius).

On Tuesday we will continue to grind away snow. As for the accumulations, it seems that the more robust snow can now fall right across the central heart of our area – 2 to 4 inches is likely, with less to the south as you approach the state line.

I’ve posted my snow forecast in a specific 4ZONE local amount forecast on the FREE Local4Casters app and on ClickOnDetroit – check that out to see what I expect where you live!

Tuesday’s highlights should be in the low to mid 30s (0 to 1 degrees Celsius) again.

Snow ends Tuesday night, with lows in the mid-1920s (-5 to -4 degrees Celsius).

On Wednesday mostly cloudy, with maximum temperatures around 30 degrees (-1 degrees Celsius).

Getting partly cloudy in late Wednesday evening and clear skies can cause temperatures to drop to mid-teens (-10 degrees Celsius).

Partly cloudy on Thursday, with highs in the mid 20s (-4 degrees Celsius).

Mostly clear Thursday nights, with lows in the low teens (-11 degrees Celsius), and we could even see some numbers in our coldest rural areas.

Fridays mostly sunny, with peaks in the mid 20s (-4 degrees Celsius).

Increasing cloud cover on Saturday, with peaks in the low 30s (0 degrees Celsius). At this point it seems that the daylight hours should be dry as long as our next weather system doesn’t speed up. Snow should develop on Saturday evening, with a winter mix that may develop during the night hours and continue into the day on Sunday.
