More snow on the way; up to 4 inches possible in central Pa.

It’s not time to put away snow shovels yet.

Winter storm warnings were issued Saturday morning stretching from northeast Georgia to southern New England. But central Pennsylvania is only covered by a winter weather advisory.

An advisory has been issued because meteorologists predict that 2 to 4 inches of snow will fall here on Sunday. Nearby cities – Baltimore, Washington, DC, Philadelphia and New York City – are included in the winter storm warnings, according to AccuWeather.

“This blizzard coming this weekend will be a fleeting blow, but still a severe storm from the mid-Atlantic to the northeast,” said Bernie Rayno, AccuWeather’s Chief On-Air Meteorologist.

It won’t be “a blockbuster that shattered snow records in parts of the East in early February,” according to AccuWeather forecasters.

Due to the offshore track, the heaviest amounts of snow will also be skewed further east compared to the last storm.

“This is a fast moving storm,” added Rayno. “It’s going to be a fast hitter, and that will keep some snow build-up down.”

AccuWeather meteorologists forecast 3-6 inches of snow along the Interstate-95 corridor from Washington, DC, to Philadelphia and New York City.

The heaviest snowfall is likely to occur southeast of Interstate 81, according to State College’s National Weather Service. The highs on Sunday should be around 35.

The winter weather advisory is in effect Sundays from 1:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Lebanon, Perry and Schuylkill counties.
