More Americans are now vaccinated against COVID than infected

As of Monday, more Americans have been vaccinated against COVID-19 than infected with the disease, according to a report, as the nationwide rollout of vaccinations continues.

According to a Bloomberg Vaccine Tracker, 26.5 million people in the US have now received at least one dose of the vaccine, more than the 26.2 million coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic.

“It’s worth noting that the data today said for the first time that more people had been vaccinated than reported as newly diagnosed cases,” Paula Cannon, a professor at the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine, told the outlet.

‘That’s worth celebrating. I’m all for that win, ”she said.

The milestone comes at a time when the US is the world leader in daily vaccination coverage for coronavirus, with approximately 1.35 million doses delivered per day, Bloomberg said.

About 7.8% of Americans have now received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 1.8% of the population has been fully vaccinated, the report said.
