Montana COVID-19 Report (Monday, March 1)

Montana added eight new COVID-19-related deaths Monday afternoon, bringing the state’s total to 1,378.

New deaths included one in Yellowstone County and seven reported in Flathead County.

(Initial report) There were 163 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in Montana on Monday, and the statewide death toll since the start of the pandemic is 1,370, according to data collected by MTN News.

The number of active cases in the state is currently 1,588, according to MTN News, and there are a total of 100,419 cases of the virus in Montana. Of the total cases, 97,461 have been recovered.

There are currently 68 people hospitalized for treatment of the virus, and the cumulative number of hospitalizations is 4,584.

The number of tests conducted in the state has reached 1,079,671, up from 1,683 over the previous 24-hour reporting period.

The number of Montanans who have received at least one of the two vaccination shots is 255,746, and the number of Montanans who have received both injections and are now fully vaccinated is 88,387.

The numbers reported by MTN reflect the latest data from the Montana COVID website, along with additional data received from the county’s health departments.

Note: As COVID-19 cases escalate in Montana, the disparity between state data from DPHHS and local data from regional health departments continues to increase.

MTN has decided to use a combination of these sources to deliver more accurate information across all media platforms. In our view, this is a more faithful representation of the situation in Montana.

Local county health departments can be warned of cases prior to Montana DPHHS. Since those countries share that information with the public, MTN believes this should be reflected in our reporting. Using that local data means there will be times when MTN coronavirus data is not in line with the status report.
