Monster Hunter Rise officially no longer exclusive to Switch, coming to PC in 2022

We are exactly a month away from Monster Hunter Rise’s expected launch. Released on March 26th, it’s a welcome return of Capcom’s action RPG series to Nintendo platforms, after we missed 2018’s Monster Hunter WorldInitially announced as a Switch exclusive, Capcom has just confirmed that Rise is now coming to PC – something recently reported after Capcom’s data hack.

In an interview with Fanbyte, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Yasunori Ichinose revealed that the PC version won’t be released until 2022, saying the port is “still under development”. Nothing was said about other consoles, so for now Monster Hunter Rise remains a console exclusive to Switch.

There’s no reason for Switch fans to worry about this, as the duo confirmed how they wanted to “make a game for the Switch,” fully aware of the console’s shortcomings. That includes a strong focus on portability, advising gameplay designed around “being able to pick up and play whenever you want”.

As it looks now, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin still remains exclusive to Switch. There’s no news on whether that will get a PC port too, but we can’t rule it out either as it has cross-compatibility with Rise. We’re waiting for more information on that functionality, so we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
