As time goes on, the clinical trials on the covid-19 vaccines are being updated little by little and one of them is that of Moderna, which indicated that is 90 percent effective against disease and 95 percent against severe forms of the disease, according to the US biotechnology company announced in the new published results, slightly less than in a previous clinical trial.

The data is from a phase 3 clinical study involving more than 30,000 people in the United States. The efficacy is slightly less than the 94.1 percent recorded in a large clinical trial published in the US New England Journal of Medicine in December.

Moderna did not say in her statement whether the decrease in efficacy was due to the appearance of new variants, pero the biotech company you are working on two modified versions of your vaccine, specific for variants, with encouraging results in mice, but not yet peer-reviewed.

“New preclinical data on our variant-specific vaccine candidates gives us confidence in our ability to anticipate the emergence of new variants,” applauded Moderna chief Stephane Bancel.

On April 12, Moderna said it had shipped 132 million doses of its covid vaccine worldwide, including 117 million in the United States.

It is still on track to deliver an additional 100 million doses to Americans by the end of May and another 100 million by the end of June.

The company’s clinical trial for adolescents ages 12 to 17 has approximately 3,000 participants in the United States, and the trial for children ages 6 months to 11 years continues to recruit 6,750 participants in the United States and China.
