MLB The Show 21 Leak seemingly confirms release for Xbox

Sony’s San Diego Studio promised that February would bring new information MLB The Show 21, but it looks like a new leak has beaten them. Assuming this banter turns out to be true, it also confirms a very important piece of information related to this year’s series.

Posted on Instagram by user Anerdydad, the cover art of MLB The Show 21 appears to have been disclosed. While this wouldn’t normally be a big deal in and of itself, it’s noticeable that one of the unleashed box art confirms that the game will be coming to Xbox platforms in 2021. This was something we expected to happen this year, but San Diego Studio had yet to confirm it for itself.

As for the cover itself, MLB The Show 21 features Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres. Tatis Jr. is one of the young stars of Major League Baseball and had a breakout season in 2020. To see him appear on the art for MLB The Show 21 this year isn’t much of a shock given its meteoric rise to fame over the past year.

What can still be seen about this year MLB The Show title advancing is whether it will come to other platforms as well. It was previously said that Nintendo Switch and PC versions of the game would come alongside a release for Xbox in the future. Considering that this Xbox release seems to be finally happening now, it’s safe to assume that other platforms will appear alongside as well.

At the moment we still have a lot to learn MLB The Show 21 but we should be hearing more soon. Now kicking off next February in February, there’s a decent show that San Diego Studio could talk more about this year’s title in a few days.

So what do you think of this development? Would you possibly include MLB The Show 21 when it finally comes to non-PlayStation platforms this year? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter at @ Jeroen1988.
