Major League Baseball players, field personnel, and individuals who do not participate in games, but do require access to stadiums, will be required to wear electronic wristbands when they begin spring practice and may be penalized if they fail to comply with the rules.
Players are encouraged to get vaccinated, but this is not a requirement.
These are the measures that are part of the health protocols Major League Baseball and the Players Association have agreed to address the coronavirus pandemic.
The 108-page operation manual, approved and obtained by The Associated Press Monday evening, is an extension of the 101-page version they used in the shortened 2020 campaign.
“Each individual must wear the Kinexon contact tracking device at all times on the club premises and while organizing team trips, as well as during team activities, including group training and exercise,” the handbook said.
“If they repeatedly fail to wear the device or return the device to the Kinexon charging station, they could be penalized,” he added. The sanctions will be applied under the justice clause of the collective labor agreement.
