MLB continues to negotiate extensive and universal playoffs

How 2020 was a pretty tough year for MLB for almost everyone due to pandemic from Covid-19 that has devastated the world and it does not seem to give a penny despite the fact that vaccines are already available. The truth is, there are no guarantees that the 2021 campaign can run normally, which is why Major League Baseball is striving to promote the same rules it was played with last season for the one who was due to start in April.

According to information from USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, several sources close to Major League Baseball have told you that team owners and the players’ union, the MLBPA, are negotiating the return of the universal designated person and expanded playoffs to the 2021 season.

MLB owners are trying to push for the return of the expanded playoffs for the next season, but the MLBPA wants to impose the universally designated ones in return, arguing that there will be more games and the players need that in their favor have to clock.

Additionally, the union sees the universal designated person as a better chance for players to get jobs entering the 2021 season in a fairly slow market for nearly all players.

So far, it appears that both sides have agreed to reduce the doubleheader to 7 innings and the runner in second place in extra innings.
