Mitch McConnell would ‘absolutely’ support the 2024 Trump GOP ticket

Senate leader Mitch McConnell says he would “absolutely” support former President Donald Trump if he won the GOP party nomination in 2024.

McConnell continued on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier” Thursday night, hinting that some Republicans are already thinking of running for the commander in chief.

“I have at least four members who I think intend to run for president, plus some governors and others. There is no sitting party. Should be a wide open race, ”McConnell told host Bret Baier.

Baier then asked McConnell if he would support Trump if he won the party’s nomination for the next presidential election.

The candidate of the party? Absolutely, ”replied the Republican from Kentucky.

After leaving office, Trump was impeached a second time after House Democrats charged him with instigating the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill uprising, but the Senate failed to convict him.

Since then, the former president said he intended to remain active in the GOP, including the 2022 midterm elections.

Utah Senator Mitt Romney – who has been a staunch Trump critic – recently told the New York Times that if Trump plans to operate in 2024, he believes he will be the party’s nominee.
