After waiting so long for December snow, Minnesota could undergo two major storms in a week.
The National Weather Service says Minnesota is ready for a light round of snow on Sunday, which could bring up to three inches of snow in parts of Minnesota, with the Twin Cities ready for a dusting.
But that could merely serve as an appetizer for a larger snow system coming into the state.
While the National Weather Service is not drawn on predicted snow levels due to model uncertainty, it does say the Twin Cities are in an area most likely to see “impactful winter weather.”
“There are several chances of snow this week,” he said. “Light snow will fall on Sunday, accompanied by patchy drifting snow for western areas. A stronger winter storm will develop on Tuesday and Wednesday.”
BMTN’s Sven Sundgaard, meanwhile, has taken a look at some of the models for the oncoming storm, four showing the Twin Cities getting at least some snow, and two showing it’s getting a significant number.
