After three months of stopping negotiations at various conversation tables by the end of 2020, the leading sectors within their environment reached proposals that they will present at the negotiating meetings.

PROPOSALS FROM BOTH PARTIES

Vázquez announced that the private sector already has a proposal for the new minimum wage that they will present to the negotiating table. At the same time, he argued that the labor sector will defend its own proposal and exhaust the latest negotiations in favor of the sector, which has millions of workers in the country.

The delay in negotiating terms has been deplored by the country’s leader and labor sector as its expansion has meant that the minimum wage, which should start in January 2021, will take effect in the following months.

ECONOMY DOWN

Vázquez explained that the businessmen claim their profits have been low as a result of the economic crisis triggered by the coronavirus pandemic affecting Honduras and the world. To this were added the losses left by the passage of tropical storms Eta and Iota. The negotiation has not yielded a point of agreement due to exceptional inconveniences like the ones mentioned.

The tripartite table convened a negotiating meeting in the Honduran capital this Friday. The government of Honduras, as indicated at the beginning of the agreement, will mediate the negotiations and will propose a mechanism for assistance to both sectors, representatives of the same have indicated.

However, if there is no suitable agreement for both parties, the state, through its representatives at the table, will set the guidelines regarding the new minimum wage.
