The use of minimally invasive techniques is already relatively common in veterinary medicine. We now have a friendlier alternative to offer the owners of our patients during the research and treatment of certain diseases. We can inspect parts of the body that we could not reach before. We can offer more accurate diagnoses and surgical treatments that are less painful than some conventional methods.
The availability of instruments is not sufficient. You need to know how to use it, interpret the results and also have a human team ready for the job. The appearance of specialized centers is increasing. In this podcast I interview Isabel Montenegro Martinez on the details of some minimally invasive procedures in feline medicine. Isabel is responsible for the Anesthesia and Pain Management Service of the Canary Islands Veterinary Center for Minimally Invasive (CVMIC) and is a member of SEAAV (Spanish Society of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia) and GAVA (AVEPA Anesthesia Group).
During the interview, Isabel tells us about the pathologies most commonly researched and treated in cats referred to CVMIC.
