Shaun Weiss – who famously starred in the Mighty Ducks movie franchise in the ’90s – is celebrating a year sober after years of meth abuse.
Drew Gallagher, the 42-year-old actor’s boyfriend, took to Instagram Wednesday morning to share a photo of them over lunch on TGI Fridays together.
Shaun looked healthy as he smiled as he looked into the camera with his friend pointing his thumb at him.

‘What a journey and what a recovery!’: Shaun Weiss – who was famous in the Mighty Ducks movie franchise in the ’90s – celebrates a year sober after years of meth abuse when his friend Drew Gallagher shared this encouraging snap-on Wednesday
Drew – who is also an actor – captioned the image: ‘Happy 1 year sober for @shaunweiss What a journey and what a recovery !!! So. Damn. Pride. @tmz_tv [prayer hands emoji] for assistance’
This comes just months after Shaun installed a new top row of permanent teeth after multiple oral surgeries to correct the damage to his mouth from years of meth use.
In September, Drew shared an update on his condition on his GoFundMe page on Tuesday, along with a photo of Shaun looking better than he has been in years while smiling.

Looks good! At the time, he was celebrating 230 days of recovery from meth addiction and an update was posted on his GoFundMe page in September
“I installed his permanent upper,” Gallagher wrote. “Get closer to a full set of teeth.”
In the photo, Weiss was smiling from ear to ear with his new teeth, showing off his healthy round face and a cropped beard.
At the time the photo was taken, Weiss had spent more than 230 days sober after years of abuse of meth and other drugs.
The Mighty Ducks actor has made steady improvements since he first sought treatment for an addiction to meth.

“His permanent upper has been installed,” his friend Drew Gallagher wrote on the page. “Get closer to a full set of teeth.”
During his recovery, friend and supporter Drew shared several updates on his condition and in August revealed that despite the long road ahead, Shaun was doing better than ever.
“Weiss is thriving,” he wrote. “His face and mouth feel like” tender meat “as he recovers from each jaw surgery, but he feels blessed to have a new set of permanent teeth.”
The astronomical costs of the dental work are generously covered by his dentist, Dr. Gabe.
Dr. Gabe has covered all expenses and Shaun is allowed to use the gofundme’s money to pay rent for his sober life and run some errands, ” Drew wrote in a summer update.

Add: “He even has a cheap laptop for internet access. Still a long way to go, but growing every week! ‘
By September, the page had raised more than $ 13,000 in donations for the suffering child star.
Drew also posted photos of Shaun throughout the process, providing visual evidence of his improvements that went from emaciated and sickly to smiling and healthy.
When the donation page started, the biggest hurdle in his recovery was the search for adequate dental care, which luckily got through.

“Any dentist Weiss wants to help is our greatest need,” Drew wrote in June of his dire condition. “He has no teeth and it’s an added discomfort I’m trying to relieve.”
According to the American Dental Association, using methamphetamine can lead to severe tooth decay and cause teeth to break or fall out.
Although the drug is acidic and can affect tooth enamel, meth can also lead to bouts of dry mouth, increasing the likelihood of tooth decay, and the psychological effects of meth can cause users to miss out without regular brushing or proper dental care.

Shockingly: In recent mugshots, Weiss (here in January) looked extremely thin and sloppy. He lived on the street and suffered from numerous health problems
The actor, who played Goldberg in Disney’s hockey-themed Mighty Ducks movies, lived on the streets and turned to crime.
In a mugshot of a burglary arrest in January, Shaun looked shockingly skinny and sloppy after years of drug use.
Weiss finally got the help he desperately needed after being released from prison and ordered by a judge in Yuba County, California to complete a 90-day rehabilitation program after a week’s detox in a center in Orange County, California.
Sources said at the time that the plan was for the resident of Montvale, New Jersey, to complete an outpatient program and participate in a frugal home program until he was allowed to stay in a frugal home.

Weiss was taken into custody on Jan. 26 for home burglary and under the influence of meth, and was held on $ 52,500 bail, according to a Marysville police release.
Police said a resident of Marysville, California, a community about 125 miles northwest of San Francisco, contacted them after discovering Weiss on their property.
The officers said Weiss broke a window to slip into the vehicle he was hiding in, in the house’s garage.

Weiss, who was arrested on the spot, “showed symptoms of being under the influence of methamphetamine,” police said. The actor told police that he was infringing and breaking into the vehicle that was not his.
The actor has been plagued with drug and legal troubles in recent years, as he was also arrested in connection with public intoxication in August 2018 in Oroville, California. He was also arrested for shoplifting in December 201.
Before that, in 2017, he was sentenced to 90 days in prison after being arrested in connection with meth possession in Burbank, California.
