MidAmerican Energy asks customers to reduce natural gas consumption

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – MidAmerican Energy is asking its customers to maintain their natural gas usage as extreme weather conditions affect deliveries across the country.

MidAmerican Energy said its systems are working as expected, but natural gas flow to Iowa has been affected by frozen wells in the southern US. The power company said it is partnering with its largest customers to ensure uninterrupted gas service for residential customers.

The company said it expects the problem to resolve itself in the coming days as temperatures rise in the southern United States.

MidAmerican asks customers to consider minor adjustments, such as lowering the thermostat a few degrees, to ensure natural gas is available.
