Michigan coronavirus cases up to 612,628; The death toll is now 15,810

The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan rose to 612,628 on Tuesday, including 15,810 deaths, state officials report.

Tuesday’s update includes a total of 2,048 new cases and 27 additional deaths, including six from a Vital Records review. On Monday, the state reported a total of 610,580 cases and 15,783 deaths.

Testing has been steady at around 35,000 diagnostic tests reported on average per day, with a 7-day positive rate above 5% as of Monday. The state has reported a slight increase in hospital admissions in the past two weeks.

Michigan’s 7-day moving average for daily cases was 1,795 Monday – an increase from last week. The seven-day death average was Monday 15. The state’s death rate is 2.6%. The state is also reporting “active cases,” which stood at 38,100 Monday – nearly the lowest since October. More than 556,000 have been recovered in Michigan.

Michigan has more than reported 3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered, from Monday.

According to Johns Hopkins University more than 29.5 million cases have been reported in the US., with more than 535,000 dead reported by the virus.
