At the time, Sylvester Stallone went from starring in Rocky movies to directing them. And now his successor, Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther) will do the same with the third episode of Creed, in which he will once again play Adonis Creed, the son of legendary boxer Apollo, as he goes behind the scenes for the first time.
In his book A Life in Movies: Stories From 50 Years in Hollywood, boxing franchise producer Irvin Wenkler already explained that Jordan would have the opportunity to direct a Rocky movie. “I promised Michael B. Jordan that I would get the chance to direct Creed 3. Last year, in a conversation with our star, I offered him not only a star, but also to direct,” he wrote.
Now, Rocky spin-off saga co-star Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok) has confirmed it in a promotional interview for her latest movie, Sylvie’s Love, with MTV News. And unless Jordan has another secret project, the third installment of Creed will be his first movie as a director.
The funny thing is, when directing Creed 3, Jordan is following in the footsteps of Stallone, who went behind the scenes in every Rocky movie except the first, until Ryan Coogler took over with the first episode of Creed.
At this point, details of the next Adonis Creed movie are unknown, which in its predecessor faced the son of Iván Drago, the eternal enemy of Rocky, played by Dolph Lundgren. Likewise, no release date or start date for filming the movie has yet been announced.
