American Airlines stated that the curfew imposed by the Miami authorities will not adversely affect flight operations and the influx of passengers to the Dominican Republic.
The US airline explained that flight activities and passenger movements will not be changed as a result of the restriction measure imposed by the authorities of the city of Miami Beach, United States.
In a statement, Miami Beach authorities last Saturday ordered a curfew that would begin at 8 p.m., as well as close the access viaducts to that tourist island of Florida due to the uncontrollable crowds during Spring Break university recess.
As detailed by the company, its flights Miami-Santo Domingo and vice versa will continue to arrive and depart at the designated times and comply with the flight schedule programmed by the Flight Operations Centers of the respective national airports.
“Until now, we will not be affected by this curfew that has been announced by the Miami, USA, authorities,” an American Airlines senior executive explained to LISTIN DIARIO.
Meanwhile, the emergency measure coincides with Saturday’s record of more than two million cases of covid-19 in Florida, the third state in the country with the highest incidence of the virus.
American operates 15 commercial passenger flights daily from national airports to the city of Miami and other North American states.
American Airlines has specified that the US company will launch six new frequencies starting April next year from the Philadelphia airport in the state of Pennsylvania in the northeast of the country, which is considered a market with potential emissions to Dominican beaches.
Regarding its flight schedule, the airline explained that José Francisco Peña Gómez operates six daily flights to Miami, United States through Las Américas International Airport.
While in the case of the international terminal in Santiago, the company operates approximately four daily flight operations. Meanwhile, the airline operates two flight franchises per day through the Punta Cana terminal in Higuey and two daily flights through Gregorio Luperón, in Puerto Plata.
American Airlines, with daily flights to and from the Dominican Republic, expects to connect Santo Domingo, Punta Cana and Santiago with hubs in the North American cities of Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Miami and Philadelphia.
In all cases, the airline will use Boeing 737 aircraft with a capacity of 172 passengers. With regard to April, American will expand its operations in the Dominican Republic.
