The Mets missed star midfielder George Springer, who signed with the Blue Jays on a $ 150 million six-year deal. They were also in talks with Red Sox free agent Jackie Bradley Jr.

Almora, a good glove who has struggled offensively for the past two seasons, thinks it serves as a right-handed alternative to Brandon Nimmo. In 28 games during the shortened 2020 season, Almora had a slash of .167 / .265 / .200 in just 34 at bats. In 2019, Almora defeated .236 / .271 / .381 with 12 homeruns and 32 RBI’s in 363 at bats.
