Well, the gifts are starting to come and they just keep coming. The latest free game on the Epic Games Store is Metro 2033 Redux, the revamped version of the spooky shooter set in post-apocalyptic Soviet subways. The game was already good in 2010, but 2014’s Redux made sense in its look and improved bits like the stealth, so yeah, well worth getting.

You have until 4pm (8am Pacific) Wednesday to get Metro 2033 Redux free for souvenirs from the Epic Games Store. After that, another game will take the freebie spot in the Epic Holiday Sale’s 15 days of freebies. This one is worth getting caught.

If you’ve played the original and are wondering if it’s worth going through this freebie again, check out our Metro Redux review.

“In particular, the stealth in 2033 Redux is now blessedly stealthier,” explained Chris Livingston. Just because one enemy detects the evidence of your sneaking doesn’t mean they all know psychologically where to locate you from then on. Even after blasting a stealth run, you have the chance to melt back into the shadows and move, or quickly neutralize the enemies that spotted you before they can warn the others. It makes for more satisfying sneaking, and the AI is both better and more forgiving. “

Make sure to grab Brigador from GOG for free too. That giveaway will run until Christmas Day.
