The message from Carlos Queiroz, a former coach of the Colombian national team, points to deep grief over the death of one of his assistants, the Irishman Des McAleenan.
The Portuguese coach regretted what had happened through his social networks and, without pointing to anyone in particular, asked for “punishment” for those who abandoned McAleenan when he had a covid.
May all who left you when you tested positive for Covid-19 now be punished for their conscience. Sorry, you and your family, because I couldn’t get it all done because they committed. The best of football ended for me, left with you today. RIP Des. pic.twitter.com/mkFTfboF83

“That all those who left him, when he tested positive for Covid-19, are now being punished for their conscience. I’m sorry, you and your family, because I couldn’t do everything as promised. The best of football ended before me,” and today I am going with you. RIP Des, ”wrote Queiroz on his social networks.
McAleenan, who was unable to get to Colombia’s last two matches in the qualifying rounds due to covid, was found dead at his home in Dublin on Thursday in what he claims is a suicide as a result of his depressive issues.
Goalkeeper Éder Chaux, who coincided with McAleenan in the Colombian national team, also complained about the death of the Prof.
