NY- Although people with disbelieving emojis responded to the NFL’s announcement that R&B artist Jazmine Sullivan and country singer Eric Church would join forces to perform the National Anthem in the Super Bowl, the duo showed why they have multiple Grammy-winning stars to be.
The two blended their voices beautifully to create a memorable and enjoyable version of “The Star Spangled Banner” on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium.
Church started the performance with his guitar and a lot of feeling in his hoarse voice. Sullivan later joined with an equally husky but rich voice and plenty of presence, performing the lyrics like a skilled singer. They both won new fans on Sunday night.
They ended up singing the song together, and Church let Sullivan take the lead with his radiant voice as he supported her, epically blending together as a perfect team.
Prior to that performance, Grammy Award-winning guitarist HER demonstrated her status as a rock star with her rendition of “America the Beautiful.” His voice was soft and powerful as he played his guitar like a real star.
Sullivan, Church and HER showed up in Tampa just before the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sickened the Kansas City Chiefs.
Canadian pop star Weeknd will star in the halftime show.
