Meghan resolves one of her legal disputes

If anything has become clear in recent months, it is that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are willing to defend their privacy tooth and nail. Not for nothing, between the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle there is already a significant list of legal proceedings against tabloids and paparazzi, who they believe have crossed the boundaries of their personal lives. Fortunately, one of these lawsuits has come to fruition, after the Duchess reached an agreement with Splash News and Picture Agency, who was accused of taking a series of photos with Archie in her arms, while they are with their dogs during your stay in Canada. The images were especially impressive because they were taken while Prince Harry was in Britain for what was called the Sandringham Summit, where they agreed on the details of his departure from the British royal family.

Meghan would not have written the letter of her lawsuit against the tabloids alone

In the agreement, the agency agreed not to take pictures of her, the Duke of Sussex or her son Archie -which would take action in the event that the photo agency emerged from the situation it entered on July 1, in a situation unrelated to this case-. The agreement was made during a remote hearing, in which an open statement about Meghan’s privacy and data protection was read against Splash News and Picture Agency. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have successfully settled the lawsuit that began earlier this year against the paparazzi agency Splash UK. The agreement is a clear sign that illegal, invasive and intrusive behavior by the paparazzi will not be tolerated and that the couple is taking these issues seriously, as any family would. A similar and simultaneous complaint against Splash US, a subsidiary of Splash UK, continues in the UK legal system, ”said a spokesman for the couple.

As the Sussex spokesperson explained, this is just one of the steps the couple has taken to show that they will do anything to protect their privacy. The images referenced in this legal battle are the one in which a very sheltered Meghan carried Archie in her kangaroo while walking their dogs in the Horth Hill Regional Park, a place close to their home in British Columbia, Canada. They also included members of the Duchess’s security team. The problem with the photos is that, according to the couple’s legal team, that is were taken on a private family outing and that it was not in the public interest.

The other dispute in Sussex

This is just one of many legal confrontations the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have waged to protect their privacy. While the same photos have gotten into trouble for the agency’s US branch, there is another lawsuit against an unidentified paparazzi for taking photos of Archie in the house where the Sussexes lived when they arrived in California.

The most infamous lawsuit is, of course, Meghan’s lawsuit against Associated Newspapers and two of her tabloids for the publication of the letter the Duchess wrote to her father. The prince has just started his own battle against the same group over the publication of an article last October, while suing two other tabloids for the alleged invasion of his cell phone.
