Meghan McCain responded to Whoopi Goldberg’s viral response to her words in the Oprah Winfrey interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Wednesday.
McCain, 36, tweeted ‘Bums me out’ in response to a tweet from People teasing a story about the exchange that took place on The View on Tuesday.
The viral segment involving Goldberg detailed Piers Morgan walking away from Good Morning Britain amid a controversial discussion about the palace.

In The View, McCain declared himself a “red-blooded, 100 percent American who” celebrates freedom anyway.
She continued: ‘Monarchies are stupid, the American experiment is the right choice.
“When we have two American women – Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey – who single-handedly finish what George Washington and our revolutionary counterparts have done, I’m all for it.”
After McCain’s statement, Goldberg paused and shook her head before saying “ Okay, ” which garnered a ton of viral attention on social media.

Amid the backlash, McCain doubled down on her words in a tweet later Tuesday.
“I am extremely patriotic,” she said. ‘I love the founding fathers. I don’t know why this is shocking or confusing because someone even met me for five seconds … ‘

McCain drew even more anger by drawing a parallel between her experiences and Markle’s.
“ I don’t compare my life experiences to Meghan Markle in any way, ” she said, “ but I do know what it’s like to be on a TV show or a political campaign where people leak stories about you with the sole intention of making you there. look bad, and let me tell you, it would be a number on your sanity like you wouldn’t believe it.
