Meghan Markle’s brother-in-law has been accused of domestic violence after allegedly slapping her sister Samantha in the face during an overnight arrest, DailyMail.com can reveal.
Mark Phillips, 62, was placed in the Polk County Jail on December 14 before being released the same day pending trial.
An affidavit of arrest, obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com, reveals that police were sent to Samantha’s home in Lakeland, Florida at 1 a.m. on December 14, after the couple rowed over her and needed help getting to the toilet. to use.
Samantha, 56, who is in a wheelchair, told police that Phillips, who works at the storage room, punched her in the face during a fight.
According to the report, Phillips had gotten angry after being asked to help her off the toilet late at night and then hit her “ on the right side of her face in the ear area ” during the ensuing argument.
Phillips fled the scene, but was later arrested after police decided he was the “ primary aggressor ” – accusing him of one count of domestic violence.
He is now facing a court date in the new year, with the case listed as being in the preliminary stages.

Samantha is also in a tense relationship with her brother Thomas Jr, 53, who currently lives with their mother Roslyn in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Thomas Jr is also no stranger to law, having been arrested several times by police in Grants Pass, Oregon, for his drunken fights with ex-fiancé Darlene Blount.
Samantha, who has lived with Phillips in Florida since 2016, has also been in regular contact with the law – some because of her volatile relationship with Phillips.
Police in their former Albuquerque home were repeatedly called into their home – with one incident listed as a call for domestic violence.

A report, dated June 29, 2015, says Rasmussen and their daughter Noel had to be accompanied by police officers when they went to Samantha’s house to retrieve Noel’s belongings.
During the custody battle, which ended with Noel’s 18th birthday in October 2016, Phillips was accused of harassing Noel with insulting text messages seen by DailyMail.com.
In it, he calls her a liar and adds, “Perjury is a serious accusation and you won’t lie, or you’ll be charged and Grandma too.”
Another incident involving Phillips occurred on July 29, 2015, when he was charged with abusing Noel in court, according to an affidavit filed by Rasmussen.
According to documents seen by DailyMail.com, Phillips shouted “Stupid f *** ing b *** h” at the 18 year old as she passed him in the hallway.
More recently, Samantha and Phillips were made fun of after calling the police about a car accident allegedly caused by paparazzi in May 2018 – which later turned out not to have happened.
Samantha had told TMZ that she had been forced to go to the emergency room with a broken ankle after the alleged incident and shared a photo of herself looking miserable in the hospital.

But Lieutenant Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol told DailyMail.com there was no evidence it ever happened.
