Meghan Markle says ‘I’m Ready To Talk’ in the newly released Oprah Clip

Meghan Markle shared why she and Prince Harry are now speaking out in a new preview clip of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Gayle King introduced the video on “CBS This Morning” Friday, saying it would show why Meghan and Harry “weren’t free to speak candidly before.”

The clip shows Winfrey getting closer to the topic with Meghan: “I called you either February or March 2018 before the wedding and asked, ‘Would you please get me an interview’, and you said, ‘I’m sorry, it’s not the right time. ”

‘I remember that conversation well. I wasn’t even allowed to have the conversation with you in person, right? Meghan replied. ‘There had to be people from the comms [team] sitting there. ”

“There were other people in the room when I had that conversation,” Winfrey said. “You turned me down nicely and said, ‘Maybe there will be another time, if the time is right.'”

The media mogul cautiously pressed, “What’s good about these times?”

Well, so many things. That we are on the other side of much, much life experience that has happened, ”said Meghan. “And also that we have the ability to make our own choices in a way that I couldn’t say yes to you at the time, that was not my choice.”

“As an adult living a truly independent life and then going into this construction that is, um, unlike what I think people think it is, it’s really liberating to have in some ways the right and privilege to be able to to say, “Yes … I’m ready to talk.” ”

Winfrey added, “And to say it for yourself. And not to have to consult with anyone at the moment. ”

The Duchess replied, “Yes, just to be able to make your own choice. And just to be able to speak for yourself. ”

In another excerpt from the interview released earlier this week, Winfrey asked the Duchess, “How do you feel about the palace hearing you speak your truth today?”

“I don’t know how they could expect that after all this time we would still just be silent if there is an active role The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us,” Meghan said in the teaser, which was released Wednesday.

“And if that comes with the risk of losing things, I mean – a lot has already been lost,” she added.

CBS told HuffPost in a statement earlier this month that during the interview with Meghan, Oprah talked about “coming into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work and dealing with life under intense public pressure.”

Later in the interview, Meghan is joined by Prince Harry, and the two discuss “their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their growing family,” said CBS.

The two-hour prime time special airs on CBS on Sunday at 8 p.m.
