Meghan Markle, Prince Harry met CA Governor Gavin Newsom: report

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were slightly more involved in American politics than previously thought, according to a report.

The pair had a one-hour video meeting with California Governor Gavin Newsom on Oct. 19, less than a month before the presidential election, The Sun reported.

It is not known what Harry and Meghan discussed with Newsom at the meeting, which came as Newsom was deciding who would fill Vice President Kamala Harris’s place in the US Senate.

The governor eventually chose Alex Padilla to succeed Harris.

Royals are expected to stay out of politics.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had already ruffled many royal feathers by urging the Americans to vote in the match between then-President Trump and current President Joe Biden.

“As we approach November, it is vital that we reject hate speech, disinformation and online negativity,” Harry said in September.

Markle added, “We are six weeks away from the election, and today is voter registration day. Every four years we are told the same thing: “This is the most important election of our lives.” But this one is. “

Newsom’s office, which declined to say what was discussed at the October meeting, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Post.
