Meghan Markle has been accused of bullying at least two palace workers during her short tenure as a senior British royal family.
Sources told The Times of London that the Duchess of Sussex occasionally brought her staff to tears when she lived in Kensington Palace following her May 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
In an alleged incident, a royal aide who expected a confrontation with Markle told a colleague, “I can’t stop shaking.”
Two senior members of the palace staff were reportedly bullied into quitting their jobs, the British newspaper reported.
A third former assistant said they were personally ‘humiliated’ by the former TV actress.
Another ex-staffer told the Times that the situation “felt more like emotional cruelty and manipulation, which I think could also be called bullying.”
The couple’s then-communications assistant, Jason Knauf, reported the behavior in October 2018, seemingly in an effort to protect the executives, the report said.
“I am very concerned that the Duchess has been able to bully two PAs from the household in the past year. The treatment of X * was totally unacceptable ”, was the HR complaint.
“The Duchess seems keen to always have someone in her sights,” Knauf reportedly continued. She teases Y and tries to undermine her confidence. We have received report after report from people who have witnessed unacceptable behavior towards Y. ”
He added, “I remain concerned that nothing will be done.”
The paper’s sources said Buckingham Palace was more concerned about resolving the situation than addressing it.
“Older people in the household … knew they had a situation where staff members, especially young women, were bullied to the point of tears,” one person said.
The institution has just constantly protected Meghan. All the men in gray suits she hates have a lot to answer for, because they have done absolutely nothing to protect people. “
A Sussex spokesperson said Markle, 39, denied all allegations of bullying and was “saddened by this latest assault on her character, especially as someone who has been the target of bullying herself.”
The allegations come ahead of a narrative interview the couple did with Oprah Winfrey – in which Markle is about to claim that life in the royal family was “almost impossible to survive”.
She and Harry, 34, will speak about their decision to leave the royal family and move to California with their infant son Archie.
