Meghan Markle filed a formal complaint with British broadcast regulators about former ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Piers Morgan after claiming she exaggerated allegations of suicidal ideation and racism in the royal family, a report released on Friday.
“We can acknowledge receipt of a standards complaint filed on behalf of the Duchess of Sussex,” said a spokesman for government-approved regulatory group Ofcom.
Her complaint is one of at least 41,000 that Ofcom has received, which is now expected to launch an investigation into Morgan’s comments on the show Tuesday. They caused a heated on-air clash that led to him leaving the show.
Earlier this week, Markle reportedly complained to an honcho at ITV, the network behind the show, about Morgan’s comments, including that he “didn’t believe a word,” she said of her treatment by the British royal family.
Markle claimed she disagreed with Morgan’s stance on mental health in general and his attack on her personally in the wake of allegations she made about the royal family on March 7 in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Morgan left the show Tuesday after an on-air clash with a co-star who criticized him for “smashing” the Duchess of Cambridge, claiming his beef is with her personally – prompting Morgan to storm off the set. .
Morgan later said he lost his job hosting the show because he refused to apologize for his comments.
