Newly graduated medical students who have taken the MIR exam this year, which gives access to a position as a specialist in training in the national health system in Spain, require the administration to choose their position personally.
The problem has dragged on since last year, when opponents of the FSE (Specialized Health Training) had to appeal to the Supreme Court to give them the right to personally choose their place, with all the guarantees. This year, however, the government has decided to change the law so that the whole process is telematic.
Moreover, the students themselves are not against the telematic choice, but demand that when choosing the desired places they do so with all the guarantees that the choice personally allows. This election is made in an official act whereby both opponents and authorities of the Ministry of Health verify the choice of the graduate.
In the same vein, opponents claim that they do not understand this legislative change. Moreover, it is a somewhat incoherent situation, as the government justifies the choice of places with telematic means due to the health crisis situation in the country. However, these official acts can be taken on the basis of the health recommendations, taking into account the next elections to be held in Madrid on May 4, 2021, is it not possible that the future of our health system offers the same guarantees?
On the other hand, the students also think that the web on which these types of operations are performed is an archaic and ineffective computer system where problems pile up at every step. In addition, the choice of a doctor’s future in our country can be accompanied by a computer problem that prevents him from building his professional career forever.
Considering that this MIR test is held annually and that approximately 15,000 applicants are presented, the future physicians of our health system, an international reference, have submitted a request on the change.org platform, with the aim of addressing this situation. to solve. that they can determine their professional future with all guarantees.
