Mayor of Guánica assures that the result of the match will not change

After the determination of the Supreme Court states that the State Election Commission (CEE) will have to start a recount in the fight for the mayor of Guánica to find votes by direct appointment, the mayor of the municipality, Ismael “Titi” RodríguezHe assured today, Tuesday, that the end result will not change.

In his first statements after the decision, Rodríguez stated that the decision confirms what had already been decided by the Court of First Instance.

“We claim, based on the minutes we have, that we are awarding different votes not marked with an X to the candidate of direct nomination does not change the final results of the electionRodríguez said in a statement.

“It is up to the EEC to investigate the minutes, comply with the Supreme Court decision and put an end to this issue,” he added.

On the night of November 3, the results of the CEE showed the candidate, Edgardo Cruz Vélez, as the winner of the competition.

Once the scrutiny was over, however, the agency’s website reported that Popular Democratic Party candidate Rodríguez got about 2,386 votes, while Santos Seda, of the New Progressive Party and former mayor of the City Council, got 2,332 votes.

In turn, the portal also echoed about 2,362 votes in the direct nominations column, although it doesn’t specify how many it is for Cruz Vélez.
