The mother of former Chivas technical director, Silvia Calcagno, confirmed the news after writing a message through her Facebook account announcing her husband’s departure while she was hospitalized with him.

“While I was recovering from COVID in the hospital bed, my husband Óscar Almeyda died here; a whole life together and today I can’t fire him the way I’d like to, but God takes care of things. What to say, I am devastated. I would love to be with all my family, but I can’t, Oscar you will always be in my heart. I loved you and I will love you until the day we meet the love of my life again, ”he wrote on his personal profile.

After the news was released, The Chivas club expressed its condolences to the Argentine strategist via a tweet on his social networks, complaining about the sensitive death of Óscar Almeyda.

“We deeply regret the sensitive death of Mr Óscar Almeyda, father of @peladoalmeyda Fuerza, Matías. We are with you ”, the club stated in its official account.

Óscar Almeyda was with his family in the process of taking the 2017 Clausura League title, where Chivas defeated Tigres on the field of Akron Stadium, the Argentinian quarterback’s father joined him in the celebration and Olympic return after taking the title .

So far, neither the Argentinian strategist nor members of his family have issued a statement in response to the sensitive news for the Almeyda family.
