Master P keeps DMX in his prayers, and he can’t help but think that X’s drug overdose could have been prevented – and his idea is that rappers should take better care of their own.
We got Master P in Los Angeles on Thursday and our photographer asked him about the legacy of DMX … while still living in a New York hospital.
Master P says he hates how the hip-hop industry waits for something bad to happen to one of their peers before offering love and support. He believes the industry should form some sort of union to help performers going through difficult times, especially when it comes to drugs.
TMZ broke the story … DMX suffered a drug overdose Friday night, leaving his brain without oxygen for nearly 30 minutes, and now he’s in a coma and we’re told the prognosis doesn’t look good.
Although Master P wants hip-hop to unite in a union, like the NBA Players Association, he says the best the industry can do to prevent the next tragedy is to educate the next generation.
Interesting talk and concept … and Master P tells us why the outlook for artists after hip hop is pretty bleak right now. It’s something he wants to change.
