A mass shooting at a North Carolina house party killed three people and injured four others, the latest in a series of deadly shootings that have rocked the nation.
Wilmington police said they are investigating the shooting, which took place shortly after midnight on Friday night.
Police responding to the scene found that “a gunfight had broken out in the house during a house party and seven people were hit by gunfire.”
“Three of the seven have died. The remaining four victims are being treated at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, ”the department added.
Police are still notifying the relatives of the victims and have confirmed to The Hill that they currently have no suspects in the shooting.
“Our hearts go out to all affected by this senseless violence, and we ask that anyone with information about this incident comes forward so that we can find justice,” the department wrote. on social media
The North Carolina shooting is one of at least two reported only Saturday. Three people were also killed in a shooting early Saturday morning in Maryland.
The shootings follow on from other incidents in recent days in California, Colorado and Georgia. Four people, including a 9-year-old, were murdered on Wednesday in Orange, California, and 10 people were killed in a mass shooting at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado.
Eight people were killed in a mass shooting at spas in Atlanta on March 16. Six of the eight deceased victims were women of Asian descent.
The Congressional Research Service defines mass shootings as incidents involving four or more victims.
