Martin Kenyon: British man, 91, gets a second dose of Covid-19 vaccine

Martin Kenyon told CNN on Tuesday that he had his second and final injection of the vaccine on Dec. 29, as previously agreed with Guy’s Hospital in London.

The grandfather said he is in good health and is still impressed with how much attention he continues to receive for his vaccination, calling it ‘rubbish’.

Kenyon received its first vaccine on December 8, when the UK became the first country to vaccinate its citizens with a fully vetted and authorized Covid-19 injection, a milestone in the coronavirus pandemic.

Kenyon’s fame came just minutes after he got his first shot, following an interview with CNN outside Guy’s Hospital, which later went viral.

He told CNN at the time, “I hope I don’t get the damn bug now. I’m not going to have it. [coronavirus] because i have granddaughters and i want to live long to enjoy their life. “

He added, “There’s no point in dying now that I’ve lived so long.”

The first British to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, a milestone in the pandemic

On Monday, the UK began rolling out the Oxford / AstraZeneca vaccine, with 82-year-old Brian Pinker the first to receive it.

“The vaccine means everything to me, in my opinion it is the only way to return to normal life,” Pinker said after the shot.

British Health Minister Matt Hancock described the rollout Monday as a “truly crucial moment”.

The UK registered 58,784 new cases of coronavirus on Monday – the highest daily increase since the start of the pandemic and the seventh day in a row in which the UK registered more than 50,000 new cases.

The staggering numbers came when British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a third national lockdown in England, which is expected to remain in effect for at least mid-February.
