Married couple who had been on the run since 2013 in Hatillo

A couple who had been on the run since 2013 was arrested Tuesday afternoon on highway PR-130, in front of the high school in Hatillo, police said.

The detainees were identified by authorities as Milagros Rodríguez Vázquez, 38, who was driving a Volkswagen Jetta car, and her husband Abbid Nieves Batista, 33, both residents of the Bayaney neighborhood of Hatillo.

Both had warrants for arrest for fugitives issued by Judge Heidi Kiess Rivera of Arecibo District Court.

In 2013, the couple committed the crimes of illegal appropriation, fraud, stolen vehicle and escalation.

They were taken to Bayamón Regional Prison.
