MEXICO CITY. – The former beauty queen and host of the Hoy program, Marisol González, declined to comment on what was said by Mexicana Universal’s director Lupita Jones, who was accused of transphobia after speaking with journalist Gustavo Adolfo Infante.

Overall, all issues are more open now, right? Well, it’s a topic I would like to reserve, the truth, so that there are no misunderstandings, ”the model told the media in an interview published by journalist Eden Dorantes’ YouTube channel.
Mexico’s representative in Miss Universe 2003 made it clear that she no longer wants to get involved in the opinion of the director of the Mexican Universal contest: “I wouldn’t talk about what if Lupita, what if the games. I mean yes, but not about Lupita, right? (…) If she said it, well, respect it, because I’m not going to get involved ”.
A week ago, businesswoman and former Miss Universe Lupita Jones expressed her views on the role of transgender women in the world of beauty during an interview on the television show The minute that changing my lots, hosted by journalist Gustavo Adolfo Infante. After these statements, both characters were charged with transphobia.
“The gentlemen who become ladies. Men who have had surgery, compete in beauty pageants and have even won, right? Gustavo asked Lupita. ‘No, well, what happens is there are competitions for them. There are contests for transvestites for transvestites, ”the businesswoman replied.
“But they are not the same, they are not women,” the journalist continued. ‘She is a transgender woman. That’s why there are transgender competitions. There is room for everyone, we have the right to free will. Through these operations, they manage to generate a body very similar to that of a woman, but it is a transgender woman. I think there is room for everyone. It’s not about discrimination, everyone has their place. The properties are very different ”, Lupita concludes.
Given these statements, Angela Ponce, who represented Spain in Miss Universe 2018 and became the first transgender woman to participate in the pageant, responded to Lupita Jones in a text she shared via social networks.
“@LUPJONES, are you ever going to stop making fun of yourself? If you enjoy talking so much about the subject, reading, researching, discovering, growing as a person and if you don’t feel embarrassed seeing the ‘opinions’ you gave, then you think the quality that knowledge gives you, ”Ponce wrote.

During an interview on the program “The minute my lots change”, Lupita Jones revealed her most personal secrets.
“You work in a competition that is too big for you because your values don’t represent it at all. You give your opinion publicly, because if people publicly call you transphobic – you are – or on social networks, don’t cry and don’t go out with absurd statements ”.
The aspiring Miss Universe also shared a video in 2018 in which she recalled that she was the only trans woman to compete in the beauty pageant and that Lupita’s words were therefore a lack of direct respect for her.
“That’s disrespectful, because he addressed the entire trans community. And well, me in particular, because the reference photos were mine and that I know of, I was the only trans woman to go to Miss Universe. So, let me give you some advice and it’s that if you don’t get on with the world, you will die out, ” Miss said from her official Instagram account.
