Mariah Carey receives plaque for the worldwide ‘multi-platinum’ single All I Want For Christmas Is You

Mariah Carey released her very first holiday album Merry Christmas in 1994, with the catchy hit single All I Want For Christmas Is You.

And the songbird, 50, was recently surprised with a plaque from her record label that recognized the album and the single’s worldwide ‘multi-platinum’ success.

‘I’m going mad! This is amazing. I haven’t seen this yet, okay? exclaimed Carey, taking credit from her nine-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

Mariah, who shared a video of the plaque’s unveiling to her 9.8 million Instagram followers, extracted it in front of the camera as her twins watched joyfully.

It featured the album’s original cover, which showed Carey rocking a Santa-inspired mini dress made of red velvet and a fluffy white trim.

‘Merry Christmas and All I Want For Christmas Is You – multi-platinum worldwide album and single’ was written in bold, red letters in the center of the plaque.

Mariah’s honor also noted the number of times the album and hit single have gone platinum around the world over the past 26 years.

A long row of national flags was displayed at the bottom of the plaque, with the album’s data above the flag and the single’s data below.

“Let’s start here,” Carey said excitedly in the video, pointing to the song and album stats in the United States.

All I Want For Christmas Is You, which is currently at the top of the Billboard Global 200 chart, has gone platinum eight times in the US. Merry Christmas has accomplished the same.

In the fun clip, Mariah was wearing a bright red tracksuit and a pair of furry red boots.

The Queen of Christmas had her hair styled in voluminous curls and accentuated her already feminine features with a bit of neutral-toned make-up.

Carey’s charismatic twins wore matching ensembles consisting of black puffer coats and red tartan pants.

Moroccan and Monroe, with whom Mariah shares with ex Nick Cannon, 40, were clearly proud of their mother’s monumental achievements.

“I am so grateful to every fan in every country around the world for your unending love and support,” Mariah began in the caption of her post.

On Monday, Billboard announced that All I Want For Christmas Is You had earned the number one spot on the Billboard Global 200 chart for the second week in a row.

The hit garnered 83.7 million streams and 21,000 units were ‘sold worldwide in the week ending December 17’.

Mariah made sure to share the big news with her fans by posting a link to Billboard’s article on her Instagram story.
