The Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) announced this Sunday the seven members of the aforementioned organization, who have presented their intention to run for president of the Republic.
They are Gonzalo Castillo, Abel Martínez, Margarita Cedeño, Maritza Hernández, Francisco Domínguez Brito, Andrés Navarro and Carlos Amarante Baret.
However, PLD general secretary Charlie Mariotti explained that these are simply “aspiring presidential candidates” as the party’s status dictates that the candidates must be approved by the Central Committee.
This information was shared at the end of the Political Committee meeting, which lasted more than six hours.
With regard to possible presidential candidates, Mariotti confirmed that it was only “briefly” approached.
He also assured that the above list is not exhaustive as other persons may be added or even subtracted.
“They are not all that are and not all are that are,” he said.
