Marc Anthony apologizes for the concert’s ‘total collapse’

Marc Anthony publicly apologized to his fans on Sunday after what he called “a total collapse of the streaming platform” that would show his virtual concert worldwide this weekend.

Anthony’s “One Night Only” show was promoted worldwide, with a guest appearance from Daddy Yankee. But Anthony later said that “overwhelming demand” caused a major technical glitch and the show was canceled.

The singer promised, “You can be sure that I will do everything I can to make sure the people who have spent their hard-earned money get the chance to see the show as soon as possible and make it up to you all. ”

The snafu sparked online complaints from disappointed fans and made Anthony a popular Twitter topic when they couldn’t access the show.

The concert was set to begin at 8 p.m. ET, Billboard reported, with approximately 100,000 tickets sold. It was to stream via Maestro, a platform that previously supported Billie Eilish and Tim McGraw’s 2020 shows. But 90 minutes after the scheduled start time, Anthony posted on social media, “We are experiencing a delay.”

At 1:30 am, the 52-year-old pop star said the show was off and apologized via social media.

Maestro did not immediately respond to our request for comment.

Anthony recently took part in a recent InStyle cover story about his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, telling the magazine of her work ethic: “She’s the first in the room and the last to leave. The hardest worker I’ve ever met. Eyebrows were raised that the piece contained quotes from Anthony and another ex of J.Lo, Ben Affleck, but not Alex Rodriguez.

Shortly after the article, Lopez and A-Rod confirmed that they had split up – as reported exclusively by Page Six a month earlier.
