The Mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Manuel Jiménez, asked the City Hall Council of Aldermen to declare the municipality in a state of emergency, with the aim of taking the necessary measures to address the waste problem in that community.

‘We have the plan and the resources. We just need our party leaders and the opposition to study the document, debate it and declare a state of emergency for the waste problem, ”the mayor said.
Under the mayor’s plan, the municipality intends to install a mixed model for solid waste collection, taking responsibility for collection in some areas and only hiring high-performing and efficient companies in others.
Projects
Manuel Jiménez presented the president with a list of necessary projects and works of the city that require the cooperation of the government.
These projects are: the construction of a modern solid waste transfer station that can respond to the waste from the most populous municipality in the country; the completion of the Palace of Justice, where about 22% of the national population should be served.
Also the completion of two wastewater treatment plants in El Tamarindo and Los Prados de San Luis; the construction of a public university for about 50,000 young people; the construction of a general hospital for a municipality of more than 1,200,000 inhabitants, and the creation of the Entrepreneurship Center and the National Ecological Museum in the facilities of the Parque del Este bus stop.
Likewise, he stressed the need for the government to prioritize the construction in Santo Domingo Este of a municipal fine arts school.; the construction of the baseball stadium; the construction of the new Los Mina market; and government intervention to solve the traffic and mobility situation together with the city council.
For construction projects, the mayor has land and specific cooperation opportunities. The only thing missing, according to Jiménez’s calculations, is an immediate articulation with the executive.
