With the duel between Manchester United and Milan as the main course, the draw took place for the knockout phase of the Europa League

Links from the Europa League Round of 16 following the draw this Friday at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon (Switzerland):

For his part, Edson Álvarez, with Ajax, will compete against Young Boys. The Dutch club arrived on the road at this stage after leaving Lille, from France.

The star tie will play Manchester United and Milan. The English, eliminated in the semi-finals by Sevilla last year, reach eighth after eliminating Real Sociedad with the overwhelming 0-4 of the first leg, and the Italians with some difficulties, thanks to the 2-2 of the first leg in the Red Star field, which tied the score last night in San Siro (1-1).

Pau López’s Roma, Pedro Rodríguez and Borja Mayoral, after beating Portuguese Braga, play the pass with the Ukrainian Shakhtar Donetsk, champion of 2009 who has just eliminated Maccabi Tel Aviv without complications, and Tottenham with Dinamo de Zágreb.

Granada, the second Spanish representative after Real Sociedad’s elimination, received congratulations from UEFA before the draw for the results achieved so far in their debut in Europe and curiously enough, they were linked to the other debutant, the Norwegian Molde.

With seven wins in the 11 games they’ve played, Diego Martínez’s team left Napoli last night. The Italians won 2-1 but the Andalusians’ 2-0 in the first leg ended the continental career of Gennaro Gattuso’s men.

The matches will be played on March 11th and 18th.

The last time Manchester United faced Milan, was in the 2010 Champions League round of 16. The Red Devils beat Ronaldinho, Beckham and Pirlo’s Milan 7-2 in total.

The draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals will take place on March 19.

The final will be played on Wednesday May 26 at the Polish stadium in Gdansk to relieve Sevilla, the last champion and dominator of the league with six titles.
