Man hospitalized after Miami escapes crude arrest while in police custody

MIAMI – Police are looking for a man who has escaped into custody from a hospital in Miami.

That man, identified as Leskeil Richards, was injured in an arrest in Miami on Sunday.

He was back in the hospital on Monday after having a seizure, his relatives said.

According to police, Richards found the right time to run from an officer who was guarding him at Jackson Memorial Hospital on Monday afternoon.

The officer gave chase, but Richards escaped west.

Police set up a perimeter in the area around the hospital. They found Shakeil’s shirt and the cast he wore on his arm.

Local 10 found out that from about 8 p.m. Richards had not contacted his family, who said they were concerned and afraid of him.

Lovers of 25-year-old Richards spoke to Local 10 News Monday night.

“How did this happen,” said Ieshia Richards, Leskeil’s sister. “I am shocked.”

She is upset and concerned after her brother was taken into custody after his crude arrest and then managed to escape police custody in Jackson, where he was treated and held.

The police consider Richards dangerous.

He was last seen wearing blue pants and may be shirtless.
