BOULDER CITY (KTNV) – The driver of a box truck who plowed into a group of cyclists on US 95 south of Boulder City last week is facing multiple DUI and other charges.
The Clark County district attorney has filed a criminal complaint against Jordan Barson, accusing him of five counts of DUI resulting in death (2-20 years in prison, per count), one count of DUI resulting in significant bodily harm (2- 20 years in prison), five times Reckless Driving resulting in death (1-6 years in prison, per count) and one time in Reckless Driving with significant bodily harm (1-6 years in prison).

These allegations come after Barson triggered an incident on the morning of December 10 that killed five cyclists and injured several others, on US 95 near Mile Marker 34 near Searchligh – about 100 miles south of Las Vegas. The DUI costs stem from the fact that methamphetamine was found in Barson’s system.

“I can’t find words,” said Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson. “I’ve told countless people hundreds of times that choosing to get behind the wheel of a car when you’re drunk is reckless. Those actions are unacceptable and they have consequences. Tragically, this type of reckless behavior has resulted in five people being killed, several injured and our community mourning again. “
Barson is currently in custody and awaiting extradition from Mojave County, Arizona.
