Man dead after shooting in Pearland

PEARLAND, Texas – A man is dead after a shooting Tuesday in Pearland.

The shooting was reported at around 3:20 PM in block 1100 of Sussex Trail.

According to Pearland police, officers responded to a call from a person being held at gunpoint by her neighbor.

“He walked over to her house, contacted her and refused to let her leave,” said Officer Jason Wells of Pearland Police.

Wells said that upcoming officers encountered an armed man who refused to obey the officers’ orders. He pointed the gun at officers and the officers opened fire, Wells said.

The man was pronounced dead on the spot.

No officers were injured.
