Major OnePlus 9 Pro 5G hands-on leak reveals Hasselblad camera partnership

Leaked OnePlus 9 Pro 5G prototype unit

About two months after that PhoneArena showed you exclusive hands-on photos of the vanilla OnePlus 9, YouTuber Dave2D has obtained live images of a prototype OnePlus 9 Pro.

The OnePlus 9 Pro gets cameras from the Hasselblad brand

In line with previous leaks, the hands-on photos of the OnePlus 9 Pro boasts an updated camera design with the main sensor, an ultra-wide alternative and two other snappers. one of them appears to be a telephoto camera that supports 3.3x optical zoom, although that weird number could be low until early software and the final product could use a 3x lens. The fourth camera is a bit more mysterious – it could be a depth sensor, a macro camera, or some other color filter.

The camera layout is completed by an LED flash and what looks like a laser autofocus system. Perhaps the most interesting detail regarding the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G’s camera module is the branding.

Nokia and Sony have partnered with ZEISS for their cameras in the past, and Huawei has had a deal with Leica for quite some time. OnePlus, it turns out, is developing its next generation of smartphone cameras with Hasselblad.

The collaboration has been confirmed by informants Max Jambor and Max Weinbach, both of which seem excited about it, but whether there has been a significant increase in the quality of the camera output that puts OnePlus on par with Samsung and others remains to be seen.

OnePlus has confirmed it invested heavily in mobile photography, but the ZEISS and Leica pacts of the past were kind of lackluster.

There is also a 120Hz curved edge display

Turning the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G prototype over reveals a curved-edge display with the usual affair – that’s thin bezels, a thicker chin, and a small hole in the top left corner for the selfie camera.

According to the leaked photos, the included screen supports a Quad-HD + resolution and runs at 120Hz by default, but there’s a basic 60Hz refresh rate for those of you who want to maximize battery life.

Speaking of battery life, previously leaked information has confirmed that OnePlus’ next flagship will support 45W wireless charging and 65W wired charging. Unfortunately, there is no word yet on the capacity of the battery cell.

In terms of specs, the prototype OnePlus 9 Pro device rocks 256GB of internal storage coupled with 11GB of RAM according to the Settings app. That’s probably because of the pre-release software, and the real number could be 12 GB.

As for the chipset, OnePlus has confirmed that it will soon be launching at least one phone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 on board and the OnePlus 9 Pro is almost certainly that device.

All of this is coupled with an updated frame that still includes the all-important Alert Slider, but appears thinner than usual. Like the OnePlus 9 Pro, the 2021 flagship will offer an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

OnePlus 9 Pro announcement, release date, price

The premium OnePlus 9 Pro is expected to be announced sometime next month. It is joined by the standard OnePlus 9, which is also powered by the Snapdragon 888, and the affordable flagship OnePlus 9E, which should use the new one Snapdragon 870.

Shipments will likely start shortly after unveiling in Europe. A similar launch timeline is expected in the United States, although the flagship should be available both unlocked and with T-Mobile. Whether OnePlus and Verizon will renew their partnership is unclear.

Little is known about the price, but a starting price of $ 899 seems about right.
