Madeleine McCann’s parents, who has been missing for more than 13 years, say they still hope to find her – even though the search was recently hampered by the coronavirus pandemic.
According to The Sun newspaper, Gerry and Kate McCann wrote a New Year’s message on their official Find Madeleine Campaign website saying their thoughts and prayers are with everyone who suffered in 2020.
Understandably, the investigation to find Madeleine has to slow down due to the pandemic, they wrote. “It has not stopped, however, and the hope, energy and determination to find it and discover the truth remains unchanged.”
The British toddler disappeared from her parents’ holiday apartment in a resort in the south of Portugal in May 2007. She was 3 years old at the time.
Christian Brueckner, a German convicted rapist, is the prime suspect in the case, although prosecutors have said they don’t have enough evidence to hold him in McCann’s case.
